March, spring, summer, where are you? This week has been literally one of the worst of the year so far. Extremely cold days, lots on my plate at work and being half sick. So, while I am dreaming of better and warmer days, below are this week’s picks.
Never stop learning. This is such an underrated thing, and not only by young students who think they can quit studying and build an empire out of thin air, without realising that all the people that made it to the top did so not because they quit studying formally and had lots of time to enjoy themselves, but because they just never stopped learning – big difference. And this applies to everything, if you landed a great job and thought you worked hard the first few months, learned the ways of the new job so think you can now get comfortable, well that’s not enough and it’s definitely not getting you where you want to be. You can’t sleep on your career, on your life, you need to keep growing and the only way to do it is to keep learning. There are so many ways you can do so and it really does not matter how you do it as long as you don’t stop learning. So here are 22 (fun) things you can do to keep learning.
Know your company. I somehow enjoyed this article on 25 best ice breaker questions to get to know your co-workers better. Sounds cheesy, I know, but I actually think they are pretty cool questions, and I am taking note and saying goodbye to those awkward silent moments at work.
Bad Boys. Just a fun read on the Big Four auditors being grilled over the Carillion case. Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?
How I stay up to date. I am using Vox for staying updated on what’s happening in the world, and I completely love the site. They have really good, in-depth articles and I haven’t seen trash among their articles at all. My last read on Vox has been on the Olympic Games and why most cities are not up for the game of hosting them anymore.
What I am dying to try. The brand that is on everyone’s lips, The Ordinary. Pretty much everyone is recommending their products and swearing by how good they are. While the Sephora in Berlin does not have it, I will do my best to work it out with good old Amazon and a nice mark-up.
