Weekly Reads – June 17

Welcome to the Weekly Reads, where I highlight articles that I found on the web and that are focused on career advice, lifestyle, beauty or anything I think would round up as useful for the young, modern working woman. So get yourself comfortable, pour a cup of coffee and enjoy this week’s reads!

Before I start with this weeks’ picks, I have to say it: guys, this is it. The holidays week is here. In less than four days I will be flying to Spain and finally getting to unwind from work. The reason why I am beyond excited to be off for a bit over a week, it’s because I am working on demanding client projects pretty much 80% of the time, and so it never feels the right moment to take time off. Truth is that I know the theory and that having time off and disconnecting is necessary and healthy, but for some reason I always have trouble in truly doing that. So with that said, next week I will report back from the beach and let you guys know how the holiday is unfolding.

Career women. If you need some career inspiration or are curious to know about other women’s career paths and how did they get where they are, Career Contessa‘s interviews with successful women are a perfect place to start with. My last read was their interview with Nikki Pechet, VP of Marketing at Thumbtack, and I really loved it.

And it is hard work, it is determination but the one defining factor is the mindset. CGD shares the mindset of successful women from Beyonce to Emily Weiss to Arianna Huffington

Morning routine. Want to upgrade your morning routine? Get inspired by the morning routines of these 5 successful women, from Jessica Alba to Jen Atkins or Charlotte Tilbury. I loved to read this, and not because of the routines themselves, but because it’ s so inspiring to read about accomplished women who have built their successful brands and careers from scratch.

London vibes. Do you need some workwear inspiration for the summer? Check out what London girls wear in the summer, because London may not be the capital city for fashion, but it the central hub for bustling creatives and savvy professionals and it’s interesting to see how these women stand out in their workplace.

Unblock the creativity. Ever feel like you are blocked and can’t seem to be able to draw inspiration and finish a project? MM La Fleur team members share their tips and tricks on how to get back on track.

PR entry level tool kit. For all the ladies out there into fashion or lifestyle PR, PR Couture this is a great place to start and they help  get a crash course on everything they don’t teach you in school – including how to ace your job interviews, move up quickly and make a name for yourself.

What I am listening to. The podcast that stuck with me throughout this week was Tim Ferris’ interview with Whitney Wolfe Herd, founder and CEO of Bumble.
