Welcome to the Weekly Reads, where I highlight articles that I found on the web and that are focused on career advice, lifestyle, beauty or anything I think would round up as useful for the young, modern, working woman. So get yourself comfortable, pour a cup of coffee and enjoy this week’s reads!
Leadership. Such an interesting perspective on leadership in this HBR article, that looks at four traits that help people lead effectively: being confident in themselves, connected to others, committed to purpose and emotionally courageous. While most people are doing great at one or maybe two of them, only excelling at the four at the same time really helps you make an impact and inspire action.
“If you’re confident in yourself but disconnected from others, everything will be about you and you’ll alienate the people around you. If you’re connected to others but lack confidence in yourself, you will betray your own needs and perspectives in order to please everyone else. If you’re not committed to a purpose, something bigger than yourself and others, you’ll flounder, losing the respect of those around you as you act aimlessly, failing to make an impact on what matters most. And if you fail to act powerfully, decisively, and boldly — with emotional courage — your ideas will remain idle thoughts and your goals will remain unfulfilled fantasies.”
Productivity hacks. We all need them, especially in those days when your brain could use a boost of energy and feeling of organisation. Personally and looking at my work daily routine, I always get motivated the moment I complete a specific task; and the worse or the more complicated the task is, the bigger the boost. But then there are also those days with countless little tasks that seem to have your brain all over the place. That’s why I loved this article from CGD, that brings some fresh perspective with a few tricks that can help you push through the day with more energy.
July desktop downloads. You guys know I am obsessed with the desktop wallpapers from Ivanka.Trump.com I use them on my laptop, on my phone and sometimes I even print out the calendars. Yes, I know, I am a total geek when it comes to cute things.

What I am listening to. NPR’S How I built This interview with Katrina Lake, founder and CEO of StichFix. It’s a great exercise to listen to her story of how she came up with the initial idea, tried it out with friends and finally built that into a $2 Billion company.
