Fit Friday – August 3rd

Hi guys! Welcome to the Fit Friday series where I am sharing my journey towards achieving a healthy and balanced lifestyle as well as some tips. As I shared in my previous health related post, I am becoming more and more health conscious and I am retaking my fitness and wellness journey, one step at a time.

Motivated for the blog series, I have been quite good this week. I have done my almost daily yoga videos and re-started my running adventure – and this one has been on my to do list for over a year now, with several failed attempts. About a year and a half ago I used to be much more sporty and active, and one of the things I would love to do is go for runs in the evenings once I would get home from work. Unfortunately, and because I am not the morning sporty person yet, running at nights for me is a completely different thing that make me feel amazing. So re-starting to run at night (and I am talking about 10-11 pm nowadays because Berlin is a sauna) has given me back so many memories and good feelings. Even though I am starting slow, with 15-20 min runs, it is definitely making me feel better mentally and in the end puts me one step closer to my goal.

So my tip for this week would definitely be to start small. Maybe that means incorporating 10-15 minutes of stretching each day, or going for a 15 minute run rather than hitting at least 30 minutes (this used to be my mental minimum), whatever it is, start with it and embrace it. This will allow you to build a base that you can later add on; and believe me, no matter how little you are doing it will give you peace of mind that will motivate you to do more.

How do you stay active on a regular basis, or how do you re-start once you’ve been in a slump? Let me know in the comments!

Stay healthy, stay balanced!
