Weekly Reads – September 21st

This week was quite busy in terms of work. After a rather chilled summer, where I kept the work-life balance very strictly – part of it willingly and part of it by law –  and I prioritized myself and enjoying the outdoors as much as possible, I am back to the grind. Despite the many meetings booked in my calendar and endless reports having to leave my inbox asap, I have been pretty good with my daily, morning walks.

Also, I’ve been quite productive in terms of posts published this week and shared my fall wishlist and also my skincare routine. I wanted to write the skincare post for a looong time so I am really happy to finally have done it. Make sure you have a read!

The Weekly Reads

How to network during a pandemic. With everything happening right now, asking someone a polite version of “Could you carve out time from your schedule to talk to a stranger?” can feel a bit daunting. Here are a few tips on how to approach it and a reminder that everyone’s in the same boat right now.

Why now it’s the time to consider a career pivot.  Asking yourself what would you do right now if you could do anything at all? every now and then is such a powerful way to check in with yourself – what you like to do, what you want to do and what you actually do – and an easy to use tool that can really help you bridge the gap between those different states.

Getting familiar with your own curiosities, passions and skills – in other words laying the groundwork for a career pivot – is going to be fundamental in the future, because chances are none of us will stay in the same industry for our entire working lives.

How to ask your network for a job. Sometimes, you can feel like you are stuck when it comes to kickstarting a job search. You don’t really know where to start or how to go about it. A great way is to put your network to work. Career Contessa has tips for reaching out to connections and learning about their career paths but also templates when it comes to following up to thank them, staying in contact and staying on their radar.

Recipes for fall. Half Baked Harvest’s 35 most popular fall recipes are here and they all look so good. This must be my favourite food blog; everything looks so yummy.

+What I am currently reading. I just finished reading  “The Boys Club” by Erica Katz and wrote a short review of the book here. Next, I am picking up The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary next.

+ What I am drinking. I am hooked to drinking Four Sigmatic mushroom coffee and hot cacao. My favourites are the instant coffee with Lion’s Mane – which is great for energy and focus – and the hot cacao with reishi – which is perfect for winding down at night. I am also trying a few other fo their products but these two are definitely my favourite.

Thank you for reading and I hope you are having a great start into the week!
