Weekly Reads – December 16th

Over the weekend I did a bit of a blog refresh – which, if you are reading this post you might have noticed – and I am quite happy with it. I think it became easier to read and also much faster. Let me know in the comments if you have any feedback!

The weekend also brought us news of a stricter lockdown in Germany starting December 16th. To be honest I think it’s good safety wise, while of course, it will be tough for small businesses, especially over the holiday period when a lot of businesses are supposed to cash in half of their revenue. Luckily, the German government announced some financial support for businesses which hopefully will help them to stay afloat.

Since I’ve been quite productive this weekend, I also published 2020 Holiday Gift Guide for Her and a Gift Guide for Him. I am very proud of how they turned out, so if you are in need of getting presents – whether for Christmas or not – make sure to have a look at them, I promise you I have some really good ones!

The Weekly Reads

Five types of impostor syndrome. An eye-opening short guide to 5 potential types of Imposter Syndrome based on research from Valerie Young, Ed.D. who has focused her career on researching fraudulent feelings among high achievers. This can help with building awareness of your experience and the underlining beliefs systems. I also ordered her book “The Secret Thoughts of Successful Women: Why Capable People Suffer from the Impostor Syndrome and How to Thrive in Spite of It” and can’t wait to read it.

Reading list. Bill Gates delivering the goods in terms of book recommendations. As the year wraps up, he is sharing five book recommendations covering a variety of subjects to help you finish the year on a good note.

Career advice. I am not big on watching career advice Youtube channels, but I am definitely not against it. If you are into video content, check this list of seven Youtube channels for the career woman.

How to stay healthy through the winter. I like this list of Ayurveda inspired practices for a healthy winter. I love to up my intake of warm drinks (tea) and especially drink fresh ginger, turmeric & lemon teas daily or as often as possible. It’s my secret weapon for keeping colds at bay every winter.

Holiday cookie recipes to fill your tins this year. So many recipes and so little time. Those chocolate orange shortbread cookies look delicious and I can’t wait to attempt recreating them as soon as my week off starts.

+What I am cooking. I bought a bit too much kale last week and have been trying to find easy recipes to cook it. This potato and kale cream soup with crispy chorizo recipe caught my eye and seemed easy enough to follow. I have to say that it turned out delicious, and got quite some praise by the Mister.

Thank you for reading and I hope you are having a great week!
