If you follow me on Instagram, you will know that one of my latest bags is the Loewe Puzzle Bag, which I added to my collection this summer. Before you read any further, I have to tell you this will be an extremely biased review because I am absolutely in love with this bag. Much more than I expected I would be when I bought it.
When I first saw the bag, I instantly loved it. I loved the more understated and unique design. Unlike many bags out there today, the Puzzle bag has a strong individuality and visual identity. It’s definitely a bit of a trendy bag now but still not as heavily bought, worn and recognized as other bags, and with a unique design that is also practical.
Even though it was love at first sight, when visiting the Loewe shop and trying it on the first couple of times, I was actually not fully convinced the bag worked with me and my style. For a while, I thought this bag would be one to admire from afar rather than wear myself. That’s why I also had my eye on the nano Celine Belt Bag. In fact, before making the decision I was extremely conflicted between getting the Belt bag or the Puzzle bag. I wanted a more casual and versatile bag that I could wear daily, for travelling and everything else in between. In the end, I am so happy that decided on the Puzzle Bag. Ever since I got it, I haven’t stopped wearing it. I absolutely love how it looks, the style, the colour, everything. So it definitely over-delivered in terms of my expectations.
With all of that said, now let’s go through all the details of the Loewe Puzzle Bag Review.

Loewe Puzzle Bag Review Details
Design
I cannot do a Loewe Puzzle bag review, without touching on all the amazin design features of the bag. First of all, I will mention that I got the classic Puzzle bag in small size and tan colour. Mine is actually not online anymore on the official Loewe website. However, they still have the light caramel and gold hardware version. Now, they also have the edge version in my same colour with silver hardware. I personally like the classic puzzle more, as the craftmanship and design feel much better in my opinion. I believe they plan to discontinue the classic puzzle and replace it with the edge version, and this is slowly happening. This was also another reason that pushed me over the edge with my choice.
The bag is made out of calfskin leather with silver metal hardware. The leather is a bit textured and soft but still feels very durable. In the 6 months since I got it, I have worn it countless times and it does not show any sign of wear or tear. The inner lining is made out of a very practical patterned beige linen. Additionally, you can also partially pull out the inner lining for cleaning. These two simple points make the bag extremely practical. It’s a bag meant to be worn, used and enjoyed.
In terms of organization, there is one main compartment with a zipper covered by a small flap. It also has a back pocket with a zipper. Inside the main compartment, there is also an inner pocket on one side for keys or cards. The practicality of the main zipper was a point of concern when I first got it. And I will be honest, it’s not the best, as it can sometimes be a tad uncomfortable to get things in and out of the bag. However, I got used to it very quickly and it hasn’t really been a problem so far. It also makes the bag a bit more secure so I can’t complain overall.
The bag comes with a non-removable top handle and an adjustable, removable leather strap. The strap is pretty thick and therefore comfortable. Though I am still quite sad that they changed the original strap from when they first released the bag a few years ago. It used to come with a wider adjustable leather piece on the strap that made it even more comfortable. This feature is still available in the medium size today.
Another extremely cool feature of the bag is that it actually folds flat. Yep, that’s right. You can fold it along the gaps created by the puzzle pieces that make up the bag; hence the name of the bag. I haven’t tried it on my bag yet, but you can google it and see how it looks. It’s a pretty cool feature if you ask me that clearly speaks to the quality and craftsmanship.
Overall, the design makes the bag extremely versatile and wearable. It fits with both more casual office looks but also dressier ones. I love that it has a bit of an edgier look compared to all the other bags and this attracted me the most.

What fits in it
For a small bag, it’s quite roomy and this was also a massive selling point for me. And that’s thanks to its cuboid shape. Even for my day-to-day essentials, I like to carry quite a few things. Or at least have the option to if I need to. This one fits a big phone, card holder, sunglasses, keys, a small pouch with lipsticks, a Kindle reader, a small bottle of water and probably more. So it definitely holds its fair share of daily essential items. The zip pocket on the back is also very functional. It can carry something small like a metro pass or a card holder, some cash, a lipstick, or even an iPhone SE.
Wear and tear
I have been using the bag since summer, and it’s been my go-to bag for running errands, meeting friends and going out for coffee. I love wearing it so I always reach out for it. You can have a look on my Instagram account and you’ll understand how much I wear it. I see no signs of wear and tear so far and very little slouching of the bag when holding it by the handle. Though this is a design feature I very much look forward to. The leather is supple but still quite sturdy. It’s also a pleasure to the touch, as it feels like real leather and does not have a plasticky finish. It doesn’t scratch too easily and due to the finish any light scratch from normal wear polishes off easily.
If you’ve read my other bag reviews, you know that I like to take care of my bags, but without taking it to an extreme. The main thing I do is I am careful with where I put my bags. So you will never see me putting my bags on the floor or on dirty surfaces, regardless of the price point of the bag. With just this minimal care, my bag still looks like new and I am pretty sure it will continue looking strong for a long time. I’ve also watched a bunch of Youtube reviews prior to getting the bag, and I knew it was going to be a durable bag; signs of which I can definitely see.

Conclusion
All in all, I am super happy with the bag. It fits my lifestyle 100% at the moment, meaning that I can reach for it pretty much every day because it’s practical and wearable, yet it still falls under the luxury bag category. Since we’re here, I will let you in on a secret. I wouldn’t mind adding this beautiful Puzzle wallet to my collection. I mean, tell me, isn’t it a perfect match for the bag?
